Congratulations to The Poached Egg Apologetics Network for Five Years of Ministry!

It was about three years ago that I received a phone call from Greg West sharing with me about his passion on apologetics. At that time The Poached Egg Apologetics Network was still in its adolescence, and reflected that passion.

What is this poached egg illustrative description?  The name of his ministry comes from C. S. Lewis’ statement in Mere Christianity,

“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”

This month, The Poached Egg celebrates Five Years of ministry, and it has exploded into one of the most popular resources for Christian apologetics on the web.  Here is Greg to explain his passion, and share about his website:

This is your brain on apologetics.  If you visit Greg’s site, here are three things you will find:

The Poached Egg is Introductory.  Greg searches and scans the plethora of apologetics blogs and selects the best posts out there. If you visit The Poached Egg, you will be introduced to the very best of apologetics resources and materials available on the web.

The Poached Egg is “Mars Hill Strong.” One of the passages where we see apologetics in the Bible being demonstrated was Paul’s sermon to the “Greek spit and whittle club” philosophers in Acts 17. The apostle Paul quoted the philosophers to make his case.  Greg demonstrates himself to be an avid blog reader.  Because of this you will find all kinds of apologetics offerings from classical, evidential, cultural and presuppositional apologetics articles.

The Poached Egg is Current.  With the help of his wife, they stay on top of what is going on in the world of apologetics. His readers and those apologists who have their quotes, and articles put on the Poached Egg, are beneficiaries of Greg’s hard work. On Greg’s page, you can find out what has been written in the past and on the current day.

If you want a good resource to get equipped, you will want to book mark the Poached Egg Apologetics Network page. I have him on my Links page of this site.  He has truly provided us with  a network of bloggers and apologetics resources.

If you are into apologetics and have a blog, send the link to Greg with an example of your work. Get in touch with Greg, and join the team of “one dollar apologists” and other great apologists with the “longer leashes.

I have had the blessing of having some of my posts put on The Poached Egg. Those of us at The Real Issue want to congratulate Greg for five years of tenacious research and ministry in the field of apologetics.  Check out his page. Get equipped, find resources to train your classes, and come join us make a case for the Christian faith!
